If Windows XP is still installed on the computer:

Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder v1.41
http://www.magicaljellybean.com/keyfinder.shtml
or
http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/repair_xp.htm
Near the bottom "View Product Key XP"
This will enable you to view the Product Key of the Windows installation which
is currently on your computer.

If you purchased WinXP retail, the Product Key is on an orange label on the back
of the package. If you don't have the package, contact Microsoft:

How to Replace Lost, Broken, or Missing Microsoft Software or Hardware
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;en-us;326246

If you have an OEM version of WinXP, the Product Key sticker should have been
placed on the computer tower by the retailer. Note, Microsoft will be unable to
assist you with an OEM version.

I lost my product ID. I have the books and the CD.

That's great.. did you mean to ask "What can I do now?" or is the world
supposed to assume that? heh

*If* Windows XP is still installed:

Belarc Advisor (downloaded, installed and ran) on your PC
should reveal the CD Key to you.
http://www.belarc.com/

Magical Jelly Bean Keyfinder (downloaded, extracted and ran) on your
PC should also reveal this key.
