I had to reload XP Pro. When i get to the Product Key and I enter it says,
Product ID is not valid. I do I get the phone number to call Microsoft if it
will not let me go any further? Trying to use XP Pro

Bs and 8s look very similiar, so do 0s and Os on the Product Key that MS
gives you when you buy XP.

I can't believe that criminal scum like MS use uppercase. That is merely incompentant.

Quite competent...in a statistical sense. Using upper and
lower case increases the overall number of available product
keys that can be used. What is incompetent is the way that
the alphanumeric block characters are displayed.

You need to examine the Product Key very carefully. It's awfully
easy to mistake a "B" for an "8," a "G" for a "6," an "S" for a "5," or
a "Q" for a "0" or "O." Fortunately, Microsoft had the good sense to
leave the "1's," "I's," "O's," and "0's" out of the equation. Also, be
sure that your <CapsLock> is _off_ while entering the Product Key --
this isn't supposed to make a difference, but I've seen it do so, on
rare occasions.

You're certainly correct about the 8s and Bs looking alike, but I've
never yet seen a Microsoft Product Key that contained a zero or an Oh.
Was this on some particular edition/version, perhaps?

Oops...drifted slightly off topic. Agreed. MS could have
used better block letters or differentiate by running dashes
and slashes through numbers, forget about "I", "i" and "l"
or "B" and the number "8", etc.

I spent a month with a non working cell phone and daily talks with technical support for the same reason B and 8 in stupid fonts.
