Product executable won't run

A customer is trying to install a software product we develop. Although we
have many other customers who have installed our package successfully on XP
Pro SP1, this *one* particular computer is driving me nuts! When the customer
clicks our executable, it just sits there. Nothing happens. No install
screen, nuttin'. The installation is from CD. I've sent altnernates to rule
out bad CDs and sent a component install on a CD I burned myself. I've had
the customer copy the exe to her local drive and try it from there. Still
nothing.

I'm stumped.

The customer can install other software (from zipcentral) so I don't think
admin rights are the problem. OS is XP Pro, SP 1. As I said before, I've had
many, many successful installations of the same program on XP.

Any ideas appreciated. I keep thinking there's some setting or
something...arrrgh!!!

Thanks in advance. If you want me, I'll be in the bar.

Suggestions:

1. EXE and LNK Fix for Windows XP - Line 12
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

2. Run Ad-Aware SE, Spybot and HijackThis:

Note: Update each program, once installed, before running.

3. If you using any third party download manager, disable or uninstall. If
you are using a Firewall program, check the settings. (Tiny is known for
this). If you using an "Ad" filter program disable it and see if it work.

Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you and many thanks for taking the
time to answer my post, Kelly.

What, precisely, does your EXE and LNK fix for Windows XP do?

With respect to your second suggestion, I've seen a computer under the
influence of highjacking, and this one doesn't seem to act like that. To make
matters slightly worse, the Internet connection is dial-up through AOL. So
there isn't a lot of motivation there to download from the Web.

What is it that you were thinking might be happening with this machine that
prompted your suggestions?

Thanks, Kelly..
