I have a computer with Windows ME on one hard drive and
Windows XP on another. I want to replace the XP drive with
a larger one, and plan to format the old drive and use it
in an older computer, probably running Windows 95. I will
install XP on the newer larger drive. What do I need to do
for product activation? It will still be on the same
machine, just a different drive. Will I have trouble with
activation, as I plan to simply format the drive and
install XP on it.
Thanks

Just run activation as you normally would. If it won't activate over the
internet, it should present you with an option to activate by phone, do so,
explain what you have done and they will give you an activation number over
the phone.

No - provided that you have not made a whole lot of other changes, it
will activate again on the net just like the first time. And if it is
over 120 days since then, it will do so however many changes you made.
