Processes

When I boot up Windows XP and then start Task Manager I discover that there
are something like 42 processes running. I suspect that some of these
processes are not truly necessary, but the cryptic file names don't give
much clue as to what the processes are and what they are doing.

Is there a resource on the Web that would provide me some info about what
these processes are and whether any of them may be safely deleted?

Thanks.

Can't really do that it varies from PC to PC but to make sure the ones that
are running are ok run AdAware and/or Spybot to make sure they aren't
spyware services etc...

Here is a free process viewer that is easy to use and gives you everything
you need to find out what the process is and what associations it has.
