process cannot access the file...used by another process

I am receivng the error "cannot access the file (database name) because it is
being used by another process" when I try to delete or rename the database.
As far as I can tell no other process is using the database. How can I find
out what process it thinks is using the database?

when you open a database in access it creates a temporary file. (.ldb)

You need to find who has the database open and hasn't closed it. You do this
as a systems administrator.

You can also try deleting the ldb in case the system wasnt able to close
this by itself. You may find that if you are using the Novell client that
there are some problems with older clients keeping the ldb locked. Update
your Novell client to solve this issue.

Copy the mdb to somewhere like your desktop. Try to open it there. If it
open fine try a compact and repair and see if you can copy it back.

You might have to also turn on hidden files to see the ldb. Im not exactly
sure. However if you know your way around DOS. You can check for it there as
well.

What kind of share is this on Local machine, Windows workgroup share,
Microsoft share, Netware share, or Limux/Unix ?

I can see the .ldb files for other databases. I can copy the database and do
anything I want to the copy...Rename it, delete it, run queries etc. I just
can't delete the original database.
The database resides on an NT server. Tonight I am going to reboot the
server and see if that helps.
