problems

hi,
my girlfriend wrote an essay in MS Word 2003. saved it and closed the file.
when she re opened it, her text had disappeared and she had a page full of
little boxes.
does anyone know a way for her to get her work back, she needs it for college.

Hi Nathan

At File > Open, check the Files of Type box and make sure it says "Word
Documents" or "All Word Documents".

If that doesn't solve the problem, then ask where she saved the document. On
a floppy drive or a USB drive? Then she *may* be able to get the document
back by closing Word, copying the file from the media to the hard drive, and
then re-opening the drive. If that doesn't work, then she'll have to start
re-typing. Saving Word documents to removable media is never recommended,
for just this reason.
