problems with XP service pack 1

i recently upgraded to xp pro from xp home and needed to
reinstall service pack 1. after downloading and
reinstalling it 2 times everytime i install it and
restart my mouse is rendered useless, can anyone tell me
why??

A few more details would have been helpful.

Did your WinXP Home Edition have SP1 installed? Did the CD version of WinXP
Pro that you upgraded to have SP1 or SP1a included in it?

Upgrading WinXP Home Edition w/SP1 included to WinXP Pro without SP1 or SP1a
is not a Microsoft supported upgrade path.
