Problems with Word 2007 in Book-Fold

L

L Hines

I have set up a sheet in landscape mode & in 'book fold' to use it as a cover
for a booklet. I have the left-hand side blank and have some wording plus a
pictue on the right-hand side (which is the front of the booklet).
When I pring it out, the picture prints where it's supposed to be (on the
rt-hand side), but the wording prints on the left-hand side (which is to be
blank).
If I set the sheet up in '2 pages per sheet' mode, just the opposite
happens...the wording prints where it should be, but the picture prints on
the left-hand side (where it's supposed to be blank).
What's the problem?

if you print this cover separately (and place the text yourself), then
set it up in landscape but don't tell Word anything about "book" at all.

You can use the bookfold setting from the print menu, but then setup the
document in double size and portrait (and let Word shrink/distribute the
text).

I don't understand what you're saying about printing the cover separately and
place the text myself. Are you suggesting that I take out the text and print
the remainder and then try to place the text on later?
I also don't understand what you mean by your last paragraph.

I should've asked: does the document you've setup consist only of a
cover sheet (that's what I was presuming), or is there text following
afterwards?

In any case, if you are using the "book" feature in the first tab of the
Page setup dialog, then leave your document in portrait and see what
happens.

The sheet in question is a cover sheet for a booklet and I have already
completed it. It does have interior pages of printing which was accomplished
without problems. I did the cover sheet by just using "landscape" layout
and, by trial and error, found where to place the cover sheet info (text plus
a picture).
I wanted to place a "border" around the cover sheet (which is sheet "2" in
book-fold or '2 sheets per page.' I ended up just 'drawing' a border, but
I'd like to be able to use the 'border' feature.
If I change the sheet from '2 sheets per page' or from 'book-fold', but
leave it in landscape mode, the border then surrounds the whole sheet...which
is not what I want.

I haven't heard from you...why?
What I was trying to do is a very simple thing, but it doesn't work!
I wonder if the problem is in the Word 2007 programming. If so, why isn't
it corrected? Surely, that shouldn't be a great problem!

sorry, I cannot really imagine how your document looks like. If you can
shrink it down to few pages, you can send it to my email and I'm going
to take a look (might take a while, though!).

the address I'm posting with here is valid and read (usually :)).

If I'm supposed to be able to see what your e-mail address is, from what
you've written, I guess that I'm not that savvy. Could you be more specific?

sorry -- I'm not really familiar with the web access side of connecting
to the newsgroups (most that try to answer more than a handful of
questions use a newsreader :)). Remove the UPPERCASE letters in:

(e-mail address removed)

I had this same problem. It's a uncorrected problem in word 2007. I fixed
it by saving the file as a word 2003 .doc file and it printed correctly. You
can do it in word 2007, just go to save as and select file type as word 1997
- 2003. The directions may not be exact, I'm not at the office with word
2007on my computer.

Hope this helps
