I upgraded from win2000 to winxp. My dialup connections
stopped working. I trie dto do the regedit process
described in micrsoft help but it didnt work. It didnt
allow me to make an upgrade again or install a fresh copy
of winxp on the same partitions. so, i created a new
partition(F:) and installed winxp on it. It is isnatlled
and then i deleted all files from c: drive. But when the
system boots it still see two copies of winxp. How can i
deleet teh copy of winxp on C:/? I tried deleting the C:
partition but it comes abck and says C;/ is your system
volume and you cant delete it. It call my F;/ as boot
volume. Because of thsi conflcit I am not able to install
my DSL connection as it comes abck and says you need 320
MB on your C:/ drive. I am trying to do a complete
format of hard drive but fdisk or format.com are not
working even from dos. It says invalied version of dos?
Please let me know if i can resolve this issue. Also, is
there any way I can now go back to win 2000 and
completely delete winxp on my system. IF so, please let
me know the procedure.

Get a win98 floppy boot disk (www.bootdisk.com). Boot to it. Run fdisk,
delete all partitions, create a new partition, reboot to floppy, format the
drive. Now boot to the xp cd and install xp.
This will slove both your probs. It will format the drive and put xp on the
c drive or after format you can boot to win2k cd or boot disks and install
win2k.

Could you please tell the procedure in more detail. after
i run fdisk from win98, and delete all partitions will
the same win98 boot disk let me create a partition and
format it or do i need another floppy?

You can create and format partitions using the same FDISK on that floppy.
(Only Dos partitions AFAIR....)

When I looked in bootdisk.com, i saw windows98 boot disks
for different versions like win98 OEM,win98 custome, no
ram, win98se and win98se custom. Please let me know hcih
one to select. Thanks. I really appreciate your help.

Any W98 boot disk will do, as long as it's got CDRom support.

Like Gorden said, fdisk can delete and create partitions. Fdisk is a program
on the win98 boot disk. When you boot to the floppy boot disk, it will
eventually come up to a:\.
Type fdisk, then follow on screen instructions to delete and create
partitions.
Then using the same boot disk reboot to it and at the a:\ type in: format c:
Then install os of chioce.
