Problems with windows restore

Hi,

hopefully someone can give me a spot of advice here! My computer has been
running a bit oddly recently so I decided to do a system restore. i did this
but ever since i've had real problems with:

downloading files from the internet (IE6, Opera, Mozilla etc)- IE6 just
doesn't seem to get a connection to the server whilst Opera allows me to
download them but won't let me then run them. Gives me an error, something to
do with the wrong path or something.

In the past I've done a system restore and nothing like this has happened. I
could go for a total system restore but I don't really want to do that if I
can advoid it!

So if anyone has any ideas i'd love to hear them!
