problems with USB hub

Timo

I have 3 USB devices:
-Speedtouch 800 Fast ADSL modem
-Lexmark X75 printer
-Philips PVCV30K Webcam
but only 2 USB ports. So I bought a USB hub with 4 ports.
When I install and connect each of the devices directly
on one of the 2 USB ports on my PC (a dell pentium III
600) they all work fine. However, when connected on the
USB hub, only the printer works. Impossible to get the
speedtouch or the Webcam to work through the hub. I
always get the message "This device couldn't be started
(code 10) "in device manager. I instelled, reinstalled,
updated the bios, but still the same problem. Any help
highly appreciated.

Thought you got this answer yesterday. Well, here it is again. Your
problem lies in the hub, not the operating system or the machine.
Either get a different hub, or better yet get a pci usb expansion card.
The hub can't handle the power requirements of all those devices. Also,
you aren't adding ports - you are *splitting* the extant ports and
probably the devices need more bandwidth than you are providing.
