Problems with template saved outside template folder.

I am creating a simple template with no macros. When I save the template
outside the default template folder my top margin is cut off. How do I avoid
this?

It sounds as if you just need to turn on "White space between pages" on Tools

Options > View tab. See:

If that is correct, the problem has no relation to the location of your
template.
