Welcome to the News Groups for Microsoft Access, the most popular database
in the world! Since this News Group is dedicated to dealing with the issues
of the database application from the Microsoft Office suite, you may receive
quicker (and possibly correct!) answers by posting your question in the
Microsoft.Public.WindowsXP.setup_deployment News Groups.

Your Boot.ini file needs to be edited. You need step-by-step instructions
to either use the Windows interface or to edit this file manually. Copy and
paste the text of your C:\Boot.ini file when you post this question in the
Windows News Group. Also, explain whether you want single boot up or a dual
boot option with the recovery console. (Sounds like you want single boot
up.)

This newsgoup is actually about Microsoft Access.
Try one of the groups under:
microsoft.public.windowsxp

The answer may involve editing the hidden boot.ini file in the root of your
C: drive, but you do need be careful what you do there.

At the Minnesota State Fair was giving out copies of ServicePack 2. I
installed it. Within a few days, my computer crashed, not blue but the
screen was black . It had the following dialog: The last attempt to
restart the systme from its location failed. Attempt to restart again. It
failed to restart. I called Dell tech support and was told that my system
would have to install windows XP home edition. All my programs and files
were wiped out. Dell helped me to install new drivers and I had backed most
of my files.
I have one problem Dell cannot solve. When I retart the computer, the
screen goes black with this mesage: Please select the operating system to
restart. The choice is Microsoft XP Home Edition. How do I get rid of this
problem at the start?
