Problems with RIght click & Double Click

i Have a problem with my computer.whenever i right click on any file anywhere
except an .exe(as of now)
it takes a good minute for the right click pop up menu to show up, during
that time the windows explorer's status
in the Task Manger is 'Not Responding' if i had right clicked a file in the
windows explorer.
this doesn't happen in the windows explorer alone, even on my desktop. it
happens everywhere.
and also double clicking to open any file also take a long time to open that
file.
i need help to resolve this problem. its really annoying
I have restarted, i messed around a bit with the 'Context Menu Handlers' in
the registry nothing seems to help.
i checkedthe perfomance in the Task Manger, the CPU utilization is normal.
Adware, Trend Micro, Microsoft Antispyware, HJT, tried everything. some of
the antivirus software found some viruses, i got rid of them but nothing
seems to help.

yesterday i downloaded ShellExview, this shows all the context menu
handlers, Microsofts and non microsofts as well. i have disabled all the non
microsoft context menu handlers and still nothing helped
my s/m runs on a windows XP pro.
i desperately need help with this one. i have already spent almost 2 days
and nothing has helped.

Then look at the Microsoft context menu handlers and disable them one by
one.

If your system is in a Network (SOHO or Domain), temporarily disable the NIC
card and try again. If that helps, refer to the 2nd link posted by Wesley
Vogel. Sometimes the problem is caused by a menu item that refers to a
network share.

Thank you Thank you Thank you guys so much. OMG.
i really can't explain how relieved i am.
it was a menu item that was referred from a n/w share.a long time back i
downloaded Nero from one my friends computer in the n/w and i think
uninstalled it too anyways the culprit was nero. i downloaded regscanner and
deleted the entries doe Nero
funny thing is that menu item doesn't show up in the right click pop menu.
and you know what ? the link that you guys posted '
http://windowsxp.mvps.org/slowrightclick.htm ' that is the first link i
started from but i never expected that it could have something to do with the
n/w so i never tried disabling the NIC and etc
anyways once again thank you guys so much. and especially Ramesh for nailing
it. you guys rock !
