Problems with Rebooting--

Hi, I just recently purchased a Dell XPS 410, and last night I was on, and
everything was running fine, until I see that I need to restart my computer,
since the Windows Updates required me to. I restart, then as I see the
loading screen (the one with the green loading bar on the bottom), after that
screen, I just see a black one. After waiting, I reboot, then the option for
system restore comes up--I try that. After, I still see the black screen in
the same place. I call Dell Support (enough said), and I ask for their
assistance, and after at least a couple of hours on the phone, starting in
Safe mode and uninstalling the most recent updates, I finally reboot again,
going past the green bar screen, then I see the same black one. The support
guy tells me to wait, and after about 10 minutes or longer, I finally see a
cursor on the screen, then FINALLY my welcome screen finally shows.

I don't know if my computer took so long to reboot because I did a system
restore with the Tech Guy (he sent me back to June 8th or so?) or what--his
explanation was that the Dell Drivers don't work with the updates. I ask him
if my computer will always take forever to load up, and he says no.

But because I trust your judgment more, should my computer still take so
long to load, or do you think everything will run okay now? And if it is
normal, should I avoid installing the updates concerning the drivers, and
install the rest?

Thanks for your help!!

Thanks Mac--I think I'm just going to just manually choose which updates to
update--like to be honest, are the updates usually even like really necessary
to install and stuff? Just wondering--thanks for your help!

Most are, and I think your current problem should be taken up with Dell.

Do check out the windowsupdate group
