Problems with Phone Numbers after getting a blackberry

I just got a blackberry and to use it need to use a PIM so I'm using outlook
but having some problems. The cell numbers were imported from my old phone to
the blackberry and I then syncrhonized which I was able to resolve some
issues with field mapping but some remain.

1. None of the numbers have the hyphens that appear automatically but appear
as a continual string of numbers. I don't have the time to manually correct
each one. Is there a way to add the hyphens to all of them automatically?
They appear in the bberry and Outlook the same way so fixing them in Outlook
will fix them in the bberry.

2. On that same note a number of them have no area code becuase their local
and were never programmed with an AC. So instead of a 10 digit number their
7. Is there a way to automatically add the area code to everyone that doesn't
have rather then doing it manually?

Basically I'm asking can you edit many numbers in Outlook after they in the
system without changing each manually? Thanks

See if this tool will help: http://www.slovaktech.com/phonechanger.htm

It's legitimate, but it won't help with either of the problems you have.

No idea offhand. That looks like the sort of error you get with .NET addins
when security isn't set properly but that addin is certainly not a .NET
addin.

Where do you get that error? Is it displayed by Outlook?

Does the addin show up in the COM Add-Ins dialog? (Tools, Options, Other
tab, Advanced Options button, COM Add-Ins button). If it's not checked in
that dialog check it and OK your way out of the Options dialog and see if
it's running then.

If that doesn't work select Help, About Microsoft Outlook, Disabled Items
button and see if it's listed there. If so highlight it and click Enable and
exit and restart Outlook.

When you installed it you did close Outlook first?

From the looks of the picture this is exactly what I need: I want to
make my phone nrs canonical and no matter HOW I import from Excel, I
cannot get these '+'-es to appear (without a ", or ' preceding
it...).

Importing phone numbers does not resolve them. You must perform an action
that will cause Outlook to evaluate the numbers and resolve them, which will
underline them. I think it may be as simple as selecting the number field
and then saving and closing the contact.

If you uninstalled it and closed Outlook before re-installing it then that
should be OK. If not it would be listed in the disabled items dialog.

Let me try to figure out where I have the archive of the source code for
that addin, I haven't looked at it in years since ownership is so murky
after the bankruptcy of the original Wrox Press (I wrote the addin for my
Professional Programming Outlook 2000 book). I don't think it requires CDO
1.21 for operation, but let me make sure.

I do know that because of the ownership issues I haven't updated the code at
all since Outlook 2000/Windows 2000, but that shouldn't be a big deal.

Thanks; I was trying to take a look myself, but also for some stupid reason,
AutoCAD has blocked my access to Visual Basic editor and I wasn't about to
re-install Outlook just yet...

I do hope Brian isn't right about having to 'open' and 'close' 1049 phone
numbers to force Outlook to 'resolve'. The phone nrs I get are underlined,
but without the little '+' in front...

I finally located the source code in an archive folder for that book on an
old machine here. I don't see anything in the project in the way of
references or controls that should cause any problems.

I also enabled the addin on an Outlook 2003 SP2/Window XP Pro SP2 system and
it worked OK on that setup. So there shouldn't be any problems that I can
see.

I would exit Outlook and use Task Manager to make sure it definitely is
closed (no Outlook.exe in the running processes list). Then uninstall the
addin and re-download it from my Web site. Install it again and then start
Outlook and see what happens.
