Problems with Outlook

I am using a Pent 4, 2 Ghz, 512 Mb, runnin XP Pro sp1

I have Office 2000 Pro.

When I install sp2 for XP PRO Outlook starts acting up. The "Customize
Outlook Today" button stops working. Radom error message pop up
intermitttently. And somtimes I can not open my .PST files.

Installing the upgrades/updates for Outlook/Office from microsoft do not
correct this. Using the repair feature in Outlook does not correct this.

A friend who uses Office 2000 Premuim with XP PRO sp2 has the same problem.

I have already reformatted the drive and reinstalled XP, AGAIN.
Outlook is working just fine, and untill I find an answer I will not
download sp2.

I think you're making a mistake. Why not read the article whose link I sent
you?

I had already reformatted and reinstalled XP before I even wrote the post.
I am used to it, XP crashed a few times per year on both of my computers.

I did receive one of those error messages again, twice, after implementing
the article. "Unable to update public free/busy data. operation failed"
they occured when shutting down Outlook.

And I can open only one of my .PST files. When I eneter the password for
the others, I keep receiving the incorrect password message. I know the
password, and the one I can open accepts its password. When I click on the
help button in the open dialog box I get "The help file mapping for personal
folders could not be located in the [help file mappings] section of
MAPISVC.INF. Contact administrator.

Thank you again for getting me this far.

There's a toll that can strip out a PST password. See if it helps:

Thank you so much Mr Tillman, that toll was a GodSend.
You're 2 for 2. I am eagerly awaiting your ideas on those two error
messages.

Click Tools>Options>Calendar Options>Free/Busy Options and tell me what's in
that dialogue box.

I have the same issue with the ""Unable to update public free/busy data.
operation failed" message. Tools>Options>Calendar Options>Free/Busy Options
information is publish 2 months of Calendar free busy information on the
server and update free busy information on the server every 15 minutes.
I use the calendar for my own use and do not share it on a network at all.
Should I change these settings and if so, to what?
