problems with opening more than one window

i often like to do more than one thing on the net but
recently i try to open a second window and it just
changes the one i have and if someone sends me a link
instead of opening it in a new windo it changes the one i
have open and wen i click on things on the internet yet
again its changing my current window and i dont know wot
i have done or how 2 change it bak?
 
When opening the second window, do you use right-click and "open in new window"
I know there's a way to set it so that it does it all the time w/out having to right-click etc.....but it escpaes me at the moment.
