Problems with opening mail client when clicking Internet Link

When I click an e-mail link on the Internet it will not
open Microsoft Outlook. I have Outlook installed and use
it regularly but I get this message ("Could not perform
this operation because the default mail client is not
properly installed") when I click on a link. Any Ideas?
 
Go to Tools > Options > Programs and make sure Outlook is selected as the
default mail client.

On Outlook preferences menu, make sure it is selected as default mail
client.

Make sure on other mail clients, make sure they are NOT selected as default
mail client.
