Problems with normal.dot

every time i close word 2003, a popup appears with the
message "The file Normal.dot already exists. Do you want
to replace the file?"

No matter option i chose (yes, no, or cancel), the dialog
box still appears the next time i use word

does anyone have any suggestions?

You may have an orphan temp file causing confusion - see
http://www.gmayor.com/what_to_do_when_word_crashes.htm.
If you are running Norton AV, uncheck its office plug-in.
