Please help (if help is possible). I have a lop top that
for some reason can no longer find difference search
engines. I suspect that something has installed itself on
system with out my realizing what was going on. The
problem is with Internet Explorer 6. When I try to use
for example google or yahoo for I keep getting redirected
to http://www.flashlightsearch.com/search4U.html
with the message the page I want is not available.
However I can go to another computer in my network and
access the sites I want. When I attempt to locate google
through this search engine I get directed to another site:
http://www.costpercustomer.com/search.asp?
affid=tvel&keyword=google.com and nothing about google is
identified.
I have similar problems with MSN seach and yahoo as well.

As a possible quick fix, you might want to install Ad-Aware from Lavasoft @ http://www.lavasoftusa.com. It's free and well reconized in the virtual community. Similar to an anti-virus program, ad-aware will scan you system for unwanted tracking progs/spam progs (spyware and such) and will allow you to delete them. The free version is a manual run version meaning that it won't launch and constantly run watching for little nasties real-time. I suspect the enhanced version has the capabilities do so. Good luck!

Looks like another CoolWebSearch hijacker varient.
Download:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/cwshredder.zip
unpack it and run the CWShredder.exe.

Read about it here:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/cwschronicles.html

If this does not fix it then download "Hijack This!" [freeware] download
direct (below):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

If you get a 404 error or Access denied, try:
http://216.180.252.218/~spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, then copy and paste both files in your message.

You need to goto www.download.com and get 2 programs
from "The Most Popular" list. The programs are
called "Spybot" and "Ad-aware". Download and install
both , then before scanning your system. Make sure you
update the program.

More then likely you've got spyware/adware on your
computer. These programs will remove it, I run mine every
week.

Goto www.spybot.com for more information.
