Problems with IPAQ

I installed the MS Sync center software and my device worked for about a
month. Then I started getting the message: "USB device not recognized" even
though the system still 'beeps' like it did before when syncing. Sync
Center does not show the device as connected.

Here's everything I can think of that's relevent:

Device Manager:
Universal Serial Bus controllers/Unknown Device/No drivers are installed for
this device.
Driver Provider: Microsoft
Driver Date: 6/21/2006
Driver Version: 6.0.6000.20596
Driver Details: No driver files are required or have been loaded for this
device.

Computer:
Dell XPS
Intel Core 2 Quad Processor
2 GB Ram
BIOS: XPS720-A03 Installed 10/24/2007

OS:
Windows Vista Home Premium Ver. 6 (Build 6000)

Software:
MS Sync Center
Device: Tom’s PDA (Ipaq 5555 w/ Windows CE 4.2)
Last Sync 9/26/2007 @ 7:25 am
Conflicts: There are currently no sync conflicts.
Sync Results: There are currently no sync errors or warnings.
Setup: There are no new sync partnerships that can be set up on this
computer.

Connections tried:
2 Ipaq Cradles
1 USB Sync Cable
3 Internal USB
1 External USB Hub

Then why was I able to use it for a month?

Your device is too old to sync with Vista or the Mobile Device Center.
Windows Mobile 2003, 5 or 6 is required.

Besides being able to use it for month, I was not getting the message "USB
device not recognized" before when I plugged in the Ipaq I am getting now.

For what it is worth.

I have a HP iPaq 5555 and it says it is running Microsoft Pocket PC version
4.20.1081 (Build 13100) @1996-2003.

It connects and works with Vista Ultimate. Sync Center and Windows Mobile
Device Center appear to be working correctly. It syncs my Outlook 2007 info
and other files correctly as far as I can tell.

Hope this info is of some use.

Should add this info.

In Asset Viewer it shows under OS Version: Windows CE 4.2.
Tag on back of unit shows "Pocket PC 2003 Prem w/Outlook 2002.

Hope this helps.

I am having the same issues. I first thought the problem was with my older
pocket pc phone but I just purchased a new Samsung with the latest software
and I am still unable to recognize the USB device.
