problems with installing windows xp

i just reformated my harddrive i tried to install windows xp but my computer
doesn't allow me to it keeps telling me my boot manager is missing and the
screen is black can anyone help me with a step by step break down please
 
i took it to best buy and they previously reformated it with FULL NTFS you
think its a probably a problem they created...? idk
 
It wouldn't or shouldn't really matter whether you do a quick or full
format. Try repairing the master boot record by using the FIXMBR
command from the Windows XP Recovery Console. You can also do it with a
Windows 98 startup disk by using the fdisk /mbr command.

What is the history of this system and drive.

Clean installing Windows XP does not require that you format the drive
first.

Just boot from the Windows XP CD (change the BIOS boot order if necessary to
accomplish this) and follow the prompts for a clean installation (delete the
existing partition by pressing "D" when prompted, then create a new one).
