Problems with exporting from Outlook Express

I'm running OUTLOOK Express v. 6 on Windows ME and when I
like to export my messages (mails) , I never get the
chance to say where I like the created file to be stored
(i.e what directory) .
If I export my Address book I get it and all seems well.
So, where does it wind up ??
and/or
is it a bug in Outlook Express (I like to start use
OUTLOOK instead) ??.
What's the file extension of the export file ?

Any hints appreciated.

That's because Outlook Express doesn't export mesasges to files. It exports
them only to Office Outlook. You must have Outlook installed and configured
with an account before you can export messages to Outlook.
