problems with downloading.

I have my a restricted user acocunt that i use normally on my machine(Windows
XP Pro). I can download any files from websites that are not in my trusted
sites list. If i add a site to my trusted sites list it works fine. I have
tired to change the security settings to medium for normal internet sites but
it will not let me.

I get a message that says the policy will not allow me to change the
permissions for the zone below high. I am the domain admin and i have
checked and there is no policy in place that i am forgetting about.

I have logged on to a windows 2003 server with this account at one point. I
don't know if this will cause problems with it or not. I have deleted the
profile and still have the same problem. Any ideas on how to not have to add
sites to my trusted sites would be really helpful.

"Tried" how?

What you are describing is what happens normally in the Restricted zone
using the slider. However, bypassing the slider and using the Custom Level
Reset button instead is still possible.

BTW Medium is Default Level for the Internet zone.
Does it let you use that button in the Security Settings dialog?
