Problems with CD writer and XP very bizarre

Karl Bedingfield

Hi there,

I have a problem that (at first) I assumed was the cd writer. Heres what
happens: I put a cdr (I have tried many top brands) in my writer and click
burn (I use nero 6) and all that ever happens is that the disc just spins up
and then slows down and it keeps doing that until it fails.

Now as I said I thought this might be an error with the writer but I took
the writer back to the store and they put the burner in their test machine
and it worked just fine. The store didn't really have an answer to what
might be causing the problem and this is not the first time this has
happened. Before I got my current writer I had another (different make) that
had the same problems and with that too I took it to the other store I
briught it from and they too could get it to burn.

Does anyone else have these problems and a solution?

I am using XP Pro sp1 and upto date on windows update.
My CD Writers are:
Sony CRX220A1
Lite-On 40x12x48x

512mb RAM

Hi Karl,

Did you disable the imapi burning service? If not, you should. Start/run
msconfig and uncheck it on the services tab. This is the native burning
software, and it can interfere with third party programs.
