problems with 16 bit MSDOS Subsystem

Joanna

I get this screen
16 bit MSDOS Subsystem

with this error
C:\WINNT\System32\pcpbios.exe
C:\PROGRA~1\Symantec\S32EVN1.DLL. An installable Virtual
Device Driver failed Dll initialization. Choose 'Close' to
terminate the application..

can you give me any advice on how to fix the problem?

does it have anything to do with the sys.ini and win.ini
in the MSCONFIG - showing ;for 16-bit app support ?

You can't use 16 bit vxds on XP and can't use 32 bit vxds in Autoexec.nt as it emulates a 16 bit version of windows and thus has no idea what a 32 bit vxd is. Delete both lines.

Modifying the start up files didn't help my issue. I ended up modifying the registry and removing the value from this registry key: \\HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\VirtualDeviceDrivers\VDD Hopefully this saves _someone_ some time.
