problems when burning a cd

I recently tried to burn a cd with Window Media Player 9,
but when I try it always goes through all the steps like
inpecting and converting, but when it actually starts to
burn the cd, it only copies about five songs out of
nineteen, then it starts closing disc. After it ejects
the cd an error comes on saying that some files could not
be copied. So then I'm stuck with a cd with about just
five songs. I want to know how I can fix this so I can
burn my cd's and not waste another cdr.
