Problems sending E-mails

Recently I have been having problems sending messages in Windows mail.
I will compose a message and then hit send. It goes to the send folder and
will remain there and will not go out. I hit send and receive and the mail
stays in in the send folder.
However then when I log out of mail it indicates that I have mail to be sent
and then it asks if I want to send and then it gets sent. This started
happening a few weeks ago and thought it was an occasional occurrence but it
happens all the time now.

I have two mail accounts the computer one for myself and one for my wife and
the it acts the same way on both accounts.

Then sometimes when I am working with a mail message it will freeze and I
have to do a Ctrl, alt, delete and stop that message and then it kicks me
out of mail.

I have not been to happy using Vista mail but it was working OK until just
recently.

I am using McAfee AVG software from Comcast.

Anyone have any Ideas. I have been reading about windows live mail. What
does it take to switch to that. Will if bring over the E-mail that I
currently have??

McAfee antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
Sometimes it takes a while before symptoms start showing up.
First of all, turn off email scanning in McAfee, although that is seldom sufficient.
Next, delete that email account (because it has been corrupted by McAfee),
restart Windows Mail, then recreate the account.

If the problem continues, the only way you can prove or disprove that
McAfee is the culprit is to uninstall it, followed by using their debris removal tool:

If you decide to replace McAfee, we can recommend a free antivirus
program which is more compatible with Windows Mail:

Instead of switching to a different antivirus, another option is to upgrade
to Windows Live Mail (WLM), which is more resistant to the adverse effects
of overly intrusive antivirus products: http://download.live.com/wlmail

Even with WLM, you must disable email scanning in the antivirus,
for the reason explained here:
