Problems Rite clicking, and getting the box that should show up

Normally, if you right click a file, a little box pops up and you can choose
from the list just what you wanna do....
Ya, well I can't get it to do it any more.. in fact, when I try to right
click a file, the open window I'm in, freezes, than after about 1 minute,
closes by it self...If you need me to discribe this in more detail, I can,
just ask... But is there a way to fix this, I use the Right click menu a lot
& this is getting annoying..
