Problems printing a Powerpoint file to an Acrobat PDF file

Hi

I'm having trouble when trying to create an Acrobat PDF file a Powerpoint
file in WinXP, with Office XP SP2.

I get a printing error message from Windows and the following information in
Distiller's log:

%%[ ProductName: Distiller ]%%
%%[Page: 1]%%
%%[Page: 2]%%
%%[Page: 3]%%
%%[ Error: syntaxerror; OffendingCommand: --nostringval-- ]%%

Stack:
/GpPBeg
-dict-

%%[ Flushing: rest of job (to end-of-file) will be ignored ]%%
%%[ Warning: PostScript error. No PDF file produced. ] %%

I've searched around Usenet but haven't been able to find a definite answer,
I'd appreciate any help. If this is not the right group I'd appreciate a
pointer as to where to ask the question.

Thanks in advance, regards

Damian;

This is one workaround short of reinstalling everything
I've found to be very reliable.

It involves three steps: [1] Adding a PostScript printer
(color or b/w depending on your needs; don't worry if you
if you don't even physically have that printer in the
office); [2] Printing to a PostScript file using that
printer; and [3] Runing the Postscript file produced from
Step 2 through Distiller.

Example: I added a Color HP LaserJet PS printer, even
though I don't have one. I simply did not print a test
page but in all other respects I acted like it was a real
printer.

I then opened my presentation, seletced File -> Print,
and chose the 'fake' PS printer.
I checked "Print to file" and got the little dialog box
asking for a name.
I entered a name, being CERTAIN to add ".ps" to the end
of it.
The fake printer produced the PS file.
I then opened Distiller and used that PS file to make a
PDF.

It sounds like a lot of work but it really isn't and is
highly reliable. Even though I have the full version of
Acrobat, I use this method on color slides if PowerPoint
gives me any grief. Works like a charm.

What happens if you rearrange the presentation so that slide 3 is moved to
later in the show?
Does the error "follow the slide"?

W/O knowing what's on the slide, it's hard to say what the problem might be.
Is there anything unusual on that slide that isn't on the others?
Are there any shapes off the edge of the slide?
