problems playing cd's on computer

i'm running windows xp home, i can't play cd's in either
my cd or dvd drive. i can play mp3 files with both
windows media player and musicmatch jukebox, but when i
try media player on a cd it says it is an unrecognized
format....in my file ext. .cda is shown as a music cd
file....any help would be appreciated..thanks

Can MusicMatch play the CDs?

If you go to WMP's Copy from CD pane, can you play the CDs by
double-clicking any tracks listed there?
