Problems opening an Excel linked file

Guest

Hi -- Can anyone explain why I can't get these files to open correctly?

www.mulliganssoftball.com/players
- 2005 Stats
- 2006 Stats
- Player Game by Game Stats

The 2005 link seems to work fine. Why does it give the message on the other
two links? Any suggestions on how to fix it, so they will open properly?

You need Excel to open an Excel file; or a SS application that can read XLS
files such as the Excel reader available from microsoft.com.

If you open the file from the web it will open in Excel, within your browser
(like a PDF file opens in Adobe but is still "in" the browser window).

Please elaborate on what the problem is.

Suggest you rename your excel files and links to remove all spaces from file names
- trust you are aware all users must have Excel to open/save those .xls files

More specifics to my original question.... I don't understand why on the
webpage, the 2006 files gives this information when opening the Excel file...

"This workbook contains links to other data sources
- To update all linked information, click Yes.
- To keep all existing information, click No."

What does this message mean, when I have posted my excel file to download
for other viewers?

The 2005 stats chart in Excel opens without giving this message. I just
want the 2006 file to open within IE like normal for anyone who wants to view
the file.

Any suggestions as to why this is popping up on the 2006 file? Is it
because it is still a work in progress, for example, the 2005 stats will not
be changed with the 2006 stats, more data will be coming?

I just don't understand the message.

Thanks for the help!

An Excel problem
Because it has cells linked in the 2006 Team Stats.xls file to 2006 Mulligans Softball Club.xls
- In Excel - View Links

PS
To prevent Div by 0 error you should always test your results before the actual division as in:
=IF(SUM(E16+M16)<>0,SUM(D16+M16+O16)/SUM(E16+M16),0)

Okay, I am not the author of this file. How do I get the author to correct
this problem? I myself, I am not at all familiar with Excel. So is this
because he used this file originally as something else and renamed/linked
files within the "new" 2006 Team stats, and he originally had some element
that came from the 2006 Mulligans Softball club file?

Also, if I go ahead and rename the file without the spaces in the title,
should this also help?

Thanks again....

Removing spaces will prevent browser broken links
- but not the Excel internal link
Open the file in Excel, View Links, and remove it there
