are most of these problems in these newsgroups on
notebooks/laptops or desktops.
seems most problems are with notebooks/laptops. these
are fragile items and if dropped/man-handled might get
more problems then desktops.

Most of the problems in here have to do with Windows. Windows can
expreience the same problems on both Laptop's and Desktops.

Hi BlackWoman,

To add to what Chris said, many problems come from running windows on old or
incompatible equipment, from tyring to run incompatible software, or from
having installed Windows as an upgrade to Win98 where the Win98 installation
was "full of crumbs."

I've carried my notebook machine with me daily for two years. The problems
I've had have been with hardware going bad, or with video drivers. (There
are drivers from Microsoft, drivers from Dell, and drivers from NVidia, and
"who's got it right" seems to change from time to time.) I haven't had
problems with Windows.

I also have two desktop machines, one is a relatively new and powerful
machine and one is an older less powerful (less MHz, less RAM). I haven't
had problems with either of these machines, although the slower one is -
well - slower!
