Problems mapping drives

On my Dell Dimension 9150 there are four ports for various digital camera
memory. If I use Safely Remove Hardware utility, all four disappear and
aren't recognised if I insert them again without a reboot.

How can I either prevent the four drives disappearing en masse or remap them
without needing to reboot the computer?

Most likely caused by poor hardware/driver (card reader).
How can I either prevent the four drives disappearing en masse or remap

As a workaround, insert the memory card/s and open the device manager.
Doubleclick the drive/s > Policies tab > Optimize for quick removal >
tick that option if it's not already selected.
