Problems Installing Visual Studio 2005 Trial Help Files

Hello, all.

I recently downloaded and installed the Visual Studio 2005 trial.
For whatever reason, the documentation didn't get installed along
with the application.

I loaded the DVD again and found an option to modify the MSDN
documentation. I chose to install the complete documentation,
but cannot get the install to work. I get a dialog saying it is
installing files, then a prompt saying "Please insert the disk:
Visual Studio 2005 DVD."

When I explored the DVD, it looked like all the documentation
installation files were there, in the MSDN directory. I tried
running the documentation install directly from there (I tried
both msdn.msi and setup.exe) but got the same result--asking me
to insert the DVD.

Do I have a corrupt download? If not, how can I get
the files to install?

If the download is corrupt, is there a way to download the files
separately and install them?

Thanks very much in advance for your help.

Hello Keith,

Just copy installation to your hard drive and install from there

Wow, Michael. Thank you very, very much!

I do have two questions:

1. Can you tell me why this worked? The setup program doesn't try
to write to the DVD, does it? Why would it install from the hard
drive but not the DVD?

2. While context-sensitive help and searching now work for C#,
there is still no Contents listing for C#. Several new entries
have been added to the 20 SQL Server entries I already had in the
Filter list, but the only things displayed below the Filter box
are SQL Server 2005 Books Online and Help on Help. Can you tell
me why the newly installed MSDN documentation is not listed
there?
