Problems installing BCM on server

Hi everyone,
We are currently trying to implement BCM as our new CRM. After a week or so
of testing the software, we decided we were ready to install it on the server
so we could create the database there. However, when I install BCM, the BCM
portion installs fine, but when it goes and trys to install the SQL desktop
engine, it hangs. It gets about 3/4 of the way through the configuring stage
and hangs. The task manager claims it is still "running" but I left it alone
for nearly an hour yesterday and it never moved. I've tried downloading
MSDE 2000 manually and installing it manually, but I get the exact same
result. We do have SQL Server 2000 installed on the server, but apparently
it needs the desktop engine also? I've never had a problem installing the
software on a machine before. If anyone has any suggestions at all, please
respond.

Thank You!

Please explain which server you are trying to use?

Is this a plain Windows 2003 Server, a domain controller, an Exchange
server, Small Business Server, or something else?

I am going to assume this is BCM Update V2.

I am going to add a video on my site how to transplant BCM databases to a
server. If I have time, I'll do that today.

Clear up %temp% folder (start, run, %temp%, ok). Reboot the server. See if
the behavior repeats. Are roaming profiles in use?

Before reinstalling the software, make sure your %temp% folder is empty. You
should see some log files generated in that folder during install that
should give us some extra clues.
