Problems importing pst file

T

Tim

Upgraded system from Win 98 to 2000. Had Outlook 97 on old
machine and backed up everything in a pst file using the
Import/Export wizard. When I try importing the pst into
Outlook 2000, I get two errors. First error is "Properties
for this information service must be defined prior to use"
Hit OK...second error says that my file is not a personal
folders file.

Tried Inbox Repair tool...its runs through it, but doesn't
seems to have any info in the file when it's done....even
though the file size is over 60MB.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Did the file acquire a read only attribute from the storage medium? If so,
remove it.
Exporting and importing is not the way you back up a PST file.
Next time just save it and then open it in the other installation.
Use exporting and importing only when you need to convert to another file
format or when you want to lose data or damage the PST file :(

File had a read-only attribute, which I have removed.

So am I basically screwed? Is there any way to recover the
data from the pst file? Tried Inbox Repair Toll, but that
didn't seem to do anything.

Clarify, please. Do you mean you had already removed the read only attribute
before you asked your question?
What happened when you ran IRT and then tried to open the file in Outlook?
