Problems connecting to Vista Remote Desktop

Hy.

I have some problems connecting via remote desktop to a windwos vista from
internet (firewall is ok, Remote Desktop ok ecc.).

Using a remote desktop client from windows xp pro, the connection doesn't
work. The problem seems to be random.

On event viewer on vista I find this message:

I don't read Italian (I think that's Italian) so if you could please
translate...:)

What error on the XP client do you see? Do you happen to have NLA enabled on
the Vista host machine?

http://theillustratednetwork.mvps.org/RemoteDesktop/RDP6ConfigRecommendations.html#Network

The XP RDP 6.0 client does not support NLA at the present time...

What error on the XP client do you see?

On Xp client doesn't appear any error !
The logon form simply disappear.
The connection from xp client works good 1 time and 10 not.

The only indication is the EventID = 4005 on vista server.

The xp client doesn't have the remote client desktop 6 because it is not
availible in italian yet.
Do you happen to have NLA enabled on the Vista host machine?

I use the second option (Allow connections from computers running any
versions...).

Thank you and sorry for my english.

Roby,

In the log error message what is the "source" of the error? If you use the
source and event ID you can check the http://www.eventid.com site for
possible clues.

I presume you can use the XP RDP client to access another XP Pro box for
example? Can you access the Vista box from another Vista box using RDP?

There is no issue on www.eventid.net

Connections to other XP works correctly.

Connection from Vista to Vista (via internet) works randomically.

Well, that would seem to make it a Vista issue as you suspected. You might
post to the microsoft.public.windows.vista.networking_sharing news group.
Perhaps someone there can help further.
