Problems between Windows XP and AIM??

I recently upgrade my OS to Windows XP, and everything
appears to be working fine, with the exception of my AOL
Instant Messenger. Whenever I open an IM Buddy Window, I
am unable to type any text within the Message Box.
Additionally, certain keystrokes that I make actually
perform other operations, as if the "ALT" key were stuck.
I am not having this problem with any other application
on my computer. Has anyone ever heard of this problem?
 
By the way, I've tried several times to uninstall and
reinstall the AIM program, but nothing change.
