Problems afterSP2 install

After downloading sp-2 I had too many problems with too
many things, I deleted every thing, did a 35 pass wipe of
hard drive, formated and reloaded windows Even after this
my pent III 500 is showing up in system propertys as a
pent III 249 (Which there is no such thing) and I can see
the difference in speed. The worse virus I ever had never
gave me as much problems as sp-2 can anyone explain this?
 
I'm a computer techie and I had the following problems.

Download the updated from weindowsupdate.com
Got ocmsn.dll error.
Tried the network install.
Got ocgen.dl_ error
I ran msconfig and unchecked mcafee and some other stuff and rebooted.
Tried the network install again.
This time I got another dll error.
I had to reinstall xp on my 3rd or 4th attempt of installing sp2.
I guess I'll stick with sp1 until sp2 is fixed or sp3 comes out.
I'm kinda dissapointed.
 
Oh yeah.
I have an Asus P4P800 motherboard with a Celeron 2.40
I assume the Prescott cpu is the P4 instead of the Celeron.
I'm going to check Asus' website for a bios update if there is one.
I updated my bios about two months ago.
