Problems after install of .NET Framework

After installing the Microsoft.NET Framework Version 1.1
from the Windows Update site to my XP Professional box,
the Guest Account now shows up again, as well as
a 'ASP.NET Machine Account' account. When I attempt to
login using my account, I receive an error, 'The local
policy of this system does not permit you to logon
interactively.'

This sounds like the .NET stuff tried to install domain
stuff to my box. I don't know the password to the
ASP.NET account, as I didn't create it.

My boot drive (C:) is NTFS.

Any suggestions?

What is the ASP.NET Machine Account?

You can also use the following easy steps to enable automatic logon:

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type: control userpasswords2 , and then click OK.
3. In the dialog box that appears, clear the "Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer" check box, and then click OK.

OK --- Please stop and read carefully ----

I cannot log on to the box! I enter my password (it
accepts it) and appears to start logging in.

I don't get a start button, I don't get a pretty
background. No icons, nothing. All I get is a black
background with a popup box with the title 'Logon
Message' and the message 'The local policy of this system
does not permit you to logon interactively.'

I click OK (because that is all I can do), and I am now
back to the original login screen with the ASP.NET login,
my login, Guest, etc.

Thanks. By going into the recovery console, I was able
to copy the security file and that worked.
