My regedit is messed and so is the task manager!
They apear for a very short time then they are gone!

w32.spybot worm disables NAV, Msconfig, Regedit and Task Manager:

Try this to:

Rename regedit.exe to regedit.com then:

Download then Merge the edit on line 251 then delete all the files mentioned
in the above link.

You have a virus, probably. Try www.trendmicro.com 's 'housecall'. Do
you have a virus checker? Is it up to date??

My cure for a totally missing task manager (no response

to ctrl/alt/del) was to reinstall XP Pro.

give you working copies of Regedit, Task Manager and MSConfig. You may also
want to see http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_starttrack.htm for Startup
Programs Tracker. This program allows you to create a log file that can be
copied and pasted into a reply. You still have the virus, and this
information can help you, and us track it down.
