Problem with XP pro Validtion

Can anyone help?

A few months ago my Toshiba laptop experienced a major crash when it was
only 7 months old running XP home sp2. Basically it would not launch windows
or anything. I contacted the support line for Toshiba who were no real help
and suggested running their product recovery disk supplied with the machine.
This was not an option on my behalf as there were files and documents from my
wife’s degree on it, which had not been backed up and could not be lost, and
by running this disk it would have formatted the hard drive. I asked about
just reloading XP from a disk they said this would work. The only problem was
the machine was preloaded with XP, which I have the certificate of
Authenticity for but a CD Rom was not supplied with a full working version
the only other disk was a utilities and driver disk Toshibas answer was to
borrow a copy from someone, I did find this quite irregular.

I was able, with help, to load a copy of XP pro on and get the machine up
and running again, the only problem is I’m trying to get windows updates for
spy ware and media player but the XP package will not validate as it is
saying the machine is running an non-genuine copy of XP. I’ve tried to make
it genuine with the links but to know a vale. The second problem I have is I
do not have the Code for The XP pro version. Is there a way I can get a code
for the XP pro or is there another solution. I do have excess to a new copy
of XP home but it is already loaded onto another computer.

When validation fails, you'll see a button to click on (Get Genuine)
which will provide information on your options which include how
to acquire a WGA Kit.
