Problem with XP Pro and XP home workgroup

One of my clients recently started using an XP Home laptop as a temporary
replacement for his broken XP Pro workstation.

We have put the laptop on the same workgroup and made sure all configuration
settings are the same as the pro, but we get the following problem:

XP Pro can see and browse around the XP Home
XP Home can see but nor browse the XP Pro.
We get the "Access is denied. You do not have sufficient Permissions to..."
error.

We have confirmed all firewalls and AV are off, we created identical user
accounts on both machines, we even added the guest and everyone to the admin
group to see but it did not help. We've run Network wizard, same problem.
We've disabled Simple File Sharing on the Pro but no luck.

Any other ideas?
I am so stumped.

Robert,

Did you enable Guest properly ("net user Guest /active:yes") on the laptop?

Take a look at "browstat status" and "ipconfig /all" on these two computers, and
on a third if available.
