Hi again!
I have Windows XP Home on my Time laptop, but quite suddenly when I switch
on the screen goes blank when XP goes from its loading screen to the login
screen, i.e. the change of screen resolution. I can get it back as it has
transferred to the VGA socket at the rear!! By pressing fn - F4 on my
machine you can cycle between LCD - VGA and TV outputs. I thought initially
I had unwittingly pressed the fn -F4 keys by mistake and set up the VGA
output, but even if I change it back to LCD only it still goes to VGA on
start-up after the initial Win XP Home screen!! I've checked the output on
the VGA socket and yes it's there! Stranger still if I start up with a VGA
monitor connected the LCD screen stays on for the Login screen, i.e. the
change of resolution happens and the LCD screen works!! The Ati utility says
that it is set for LCD only as does display in the control panel!!
The question is: Is this a Windows thing or a motherboard problem on my
laptop? I'm hoping that it is a Windows XP silly!! I'm now having a look at
the Hot links from Microsoft to see if one relates to the VGA setup.
All help very welcome, and thanks are offered in advance.
Cheers
