Problem with winxp taskbar toolbar divisions

I was just installing a program which stalled halfway during the
installation. So I cancelled the installation and rolled-back to the
restore point which I purposely made before installing the program.

After restoration, my taskbar had an extra toolbar division and the
inactive icons on the lower right don't get hidden anymore. What I
noticed is that when I run programs, they not only appear in the main
section of the taskbar, but a copy of it appear in the new division--
sort of like to duplicate.

But when you single-click on the program on the taskbar(whether on the
original or duplicate), it visually minimizes/maximizes towards/from
the original. You can also drag the divisions around so that even both
program divisions can be infront of the quick-launch division.

I've tried my best to move the divider around and change all
properties and settings, but with no success. Even system restoring to
an even earlier time doesn't help. Can someone give a solution? Thanks.
