I recently had a problem with update not working at all
(see previous post)...this was solved by renaming the
CatRoot2 directory to OldCatRoot2.

I also decided to reinstall ZoneAlarm Pro. This takes
quite a bit of fiddling with to allow safe AND smooth web
browsing.

However, if I run windows update now I get a message box:

"Do you want to install and run
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/CAB/x86/unicode/iuctl
CAB?37861.6253935185? The publisher cannot be determined
due to the problems below:

Authenticode signature not found"

If select "yes" then update runs OK (as long as cookie and
ad security are turned off in ZAP).

Each time I relaunch IE6 and try the update I get the same
message but with a different 10 didgit number at the end.

This is very frustrating - can anyone advise ?

thanks

Check your event log in ZAP, and consider granting access to the IP address
that the Update server uses... that way you won't have to compromise your
security....

Additionally, see this site http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_abc.htm
click the 'W', then scroll down to the Windows Update section, near the
bottom. There are lots of suggestions for troubleshooting it.
