problem with windows registry editor

Could anyone help me with windows registry problem?
When starting regedit in the command line, the regedit
windows will open with all its contexts; however, after
about 10 to 15 seconds the registry edit windows closed
down automatically. Therefore, I am not able to make any
changes to the registry.
Any ideas why registry is closing down without user's
command.

Most likely a virus attack - there are some that have this effect. Run
an up to date virus checker
